9th and 10th graders
Some students and their parents seek additional help in preparing for a successful high school experience. With that in mind, MEC first works one-on-one with the student to assess the student’s current academic standing. Then we find ways to maintain or improve good grades; we help with selection of high school courses and activities; and we identify summer programs and activities for students to participate in during the summer between their freshman and sophomore years.
11th and 12th graders
MEC’s one-on-one counseling helps identify appropriate colleges for each student to research and apply to for admission. We assist in every phase of the application process, including producing essays, creating résumés, and helping students acquire interview skills.
If students have a special talent or are athletes, we work with them to highlight those talents and athletic skills. We also work with students to make meaningful changes to their SAT or ACT scores, their scholastic grades, and/or their extracurricular activities, if needed. And we assist in finding summer programs and activities for students to participate in during the summer between their junior and senior years. Such programs and activities are intended to give students further support in the college selection process.
We also assist in finding the right educational environment for students who have
learning and behavioral differences.
